Creating stronger and better relationships between businesses, delivery staff, and customers, the cutting-edge technology of the Delivery Tracking System facilitates improved operational administration and expedited delivery, thereby increasing customer satisfaction.

How Delivery Tracking System Works

Now that we understand how the Delivery Tracking System can be used, it’s time to dive deeper into how this system works. The basic purpose of using this system is to make it easier to track orders, even if we are looking for a single order out of the thousands placed that day.

It allows each order to have its own unique identification code making tracking our orders a quick task, no matter what stage of delivery it has reached. To give us a clearer understanding, here are the steps that allow the Delivery Tracking System to function. These steps also give us an insight into the lifecycle of each order.

1) AWB Generation

Once an order is placed and a courier partner is selected, the order must be generated on the courier partner’s platform. Once created, an AWB (airway bill) should be generated for the order. The AWB number will serve as the unique identifier of the order for tracking purposes. Order details are stored in a unique barcode along with the AWB.

2) Scanning Barcode/AWB Details

AWB and order barcode generation is just the first step in the order fulfillment process. Once the shipping label is printed, the order is packaged and prepared for pickup. Finally, while preparing the order to begin its journey, the barcode is scanned. This initial scan signifies the first delivery milestone that the order must pass.

3) Storing Scanned Information

When an order barcode is scanned, all the information about the order contained in the barcode is collected and stored by the courier partner platform. This includes real-time order tracking information, such as the location of the originating warehouse, the delivery destination, and the time the order is picked up from the seller’s location or originating warehouse.

4) In-transit Storage

Once an order is picked from the warehouse, it begins its long journey to the customer’s location. Most orders have to travel long distances to reach the customer. To make the journey easier and safer for shipping agents and orders, logistics companies usually have transit storage facilities. Orders can be stored until the next phase of shipping begins.

5) Rescan Information

Every hub an order reaches is another shipment milestone. This means the barcode assigned to each order must be rescanned as soon as it arrives at each transit storage point. The courier partner’s platform again collects and stores the order details including its delivery time to the transit center.

6) Out For Delivery

The next major milestone is when the order is being prepared for last mile delivery. This is the stretch between the last transit center and the customer’s delivery location. When the last-mile delivery agent collects the order, the item is scanned again. The data collected by the courier partner platform is once again updated to include the time the last-mile delivery agent picked up the order.

7) Successful Delivery

This should ideally be the last step in the lifecycle of each order, which is when the order is successfully delivered to the customer. Once the goods are delivered, the Delivery Tracking System updates the order status to “Delivered”. The delivery time is recorded along with the name of the person who received the item.

What is the Difference between Delivery tracking and Cargo Tracking

These two deliveries have the same fundamental idea. They move products from one place to another. However, there are various circumstances where one can use cargo or courier services. The delivery of packages, letters, and messages is done by couriers. This offers the benefits of speed, security, tracking, signature and specialization over conventional postal services.

However, as a result, it is often more expensive than standard postal services. There are several different distance scales on which couriers operate; some are local, some are regional, some are national, and some are even worldwide. Typically, one would use a courier when the speed, security, or distance outweighs the cost.

Compared to using the postal service, using a courier or cargo service is faster and more secure, but it can be more expensive. They offer a more effective way of delivering shipments.

Large consignments of commodities or products are commonly referred to as cargo. Most people rarely need to use cargo services unless they need to move a lot of bulky or large items or people. Businesses, such as manufacturers or exporters, are the main users of cargo services. Containers are used to carry products via ships, airplanes, trains, vans, and/or vehicles.

Some couriers also provide freight or cargo services. Shipping, on the other hand, is slower, can transport large amounts of cargo, and ensures the safety of the product. Couriers, on the other hand, usually deliver smaller packages such as documents faster than cargo, but do not always guarantee that wear and tear on the package will occur as the envelope is usually not a big deal.

Cargo services often offer better prices than couriers when delivering large quantities of products. This is due to the fact that freighters (cargo services) benefit from economies of scale, which means that the entire transportation cost is shared among commodities due to transporting a large number of goods from a large number of companies simultaneously. Therefore, the price per product or for each item is much lower than that charged by couriers.

Usually, large shipments or those that require special handling and attention are handled by cargo companies. They are capable of transporting heavy loads anywhere in the world. Depending on what they have to transport, they may be expensive or inexpensive.

For documents, small objects, and very valuable items, courier services are appropriate. we can check the services and prices offered by most, if not all, courier companies, on their websites.

Usually, they are just delivery or courier companies, or both. The largest courier services often deliver goods and cargo, and they do so using some form of transportation.
